Downtown Cleveland – It’s Here (Video)

Here’s a new video from the Downtown Cleveland Alliance showcasing all the great things going on in the city – and the great people that are keeping the energy going as well. Being a lifelong Cleveland area resident, I must point out that I didn’t see any winter scenes in this video; the weather can be brutal here. But nothing beats the spring and summer months!

Happy 100th Birthday, West Side Market!

Cleveland’s West Side Market celebrates its 100th birthday this week. To celebrate, here is a gallery of some photos I took at the market during recent visits. It’s not only a fantastic place to shop for food, but the building itself is a great space. (Click on any image to open the photo gallery.)

Cleveland Trust Rotunda Building & Ameritrust/Breuer Tower – Worth Saving

Here’s a current exterior photo of the Cleveland Trust Rotunda building and the Ameritrust Tower. The tower was designed by architect Marcel Breuer, who is known for the “brutalist” style. The tower was initially intended to be the home of the Cuyahoga Country offices, but after years of county mismanagement in trying to renovate the structure, the county trying (unsuccessfully) to sell the property, and the country corruption scandal/trial/convictions, the tower and the rotunda remain in limbo. The new county administration is looking at consolidating all its properties and hopefully in the process, someone will take up the task of getting these 2 building back in use. The Cleveland Trust Rotunda is an exceptional space and it would be wonderful to see it open and in use again. Having never been inside the Ameritrust Tower, I can’t speak to the interior of that facility, but I can say it is a very important structure in the world of architecture

The Cleveland Trust rotunda is on the corner of East 9th Street and Euclid Avenue (US Route 20), with the Ameritrust Tower directly next door on East 9th.

Marine Week Cleveland Ohio June 2012

Cleveland Ohio hosted Marine Week from June 11-17. 2012. With “chamber of commerce” weather conditions, many people flocked to the downtown area to take in the events. Here are several photos taken by my husband at Public Square and of the displays at Voinovich Park near the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Cleveland Stadium 1977 (Photos)

I finally found the spare time to convert some of my old slide photos to a digital format, and found a few photos from inside the old Cleveland Stadium. It was the fall of 1977, and the Cleveland Browns were playing the Oakland Raiders. Sadly, the Browns lost. But, at least these photos survived the game.
